Atlanta was ranked in the top 15 cities for tech talent in Forrester's report "2018 US Tech Talent Hotspots". Forrester cited several factors they evaluated when determining the most elite tech talent cities in the country. Those factors included evaluating locations that offer an optimal tech workforce in regards to size, skills and experience. Forrester also cited the tech ecosystem as a determining factor as well. This includes everything from a start-up community, colleges, business associations and other organizations that support innovation.
In Forrester's report, Atlanta was ranked among the country's tech elite coming in 5th after The Bay Area, New York City, Washington D.C. and Seattle. According to Forrester, these cities "offer the largest quantity of elite tech talent for businesses that care more about access to niche skills than operating costs." As evidenced by Amazon's short list, and subsequent choice for H2, these cities are a strong choice for leading technology corporations.
